13th December We would be grateful if you could bring a NEW toy (please do NOT wrap it) to the Church Parade on Sunday 13th December. These toys will be distributed between disadvantaged children in Wigan for their Christmas present. If you do not come to Church Parade and would like to donate a toy, please bring it to church on any Sunday before Monday 14th December. (The toys will be distributed to the various groups on this day) and leave it with a Churchwarden or at the back of Church. 13th December The Pemberton Community Association is again hosting a Christmas event for Children. 13th December The annual Christingle Service will be held on Sunday 13th December at 6.30pm. Collecting Candles are available at the back of church. All money raised is for the work of the Children’s Society. 16th December On Wednesday 16th December our local Councillor Rona Winkworth, has arranged carol singing round a Christmas tree in St Matthews Church Hall car park, commencing at 6.30pm, followed by refreshments in the Parish Hall – everyone welcome! 19th December On 19th December 2009 at 7:30pm Wigan Choral Society are presenting Bach’s "Christmas Oratorio" at St. Michael's Church, Swinley, Wigan 20th December St Matthews Church is holding a festival of nine lessons and carols on 20th December at 6.30pm 24th December St Matthews Church is holds its Midnight Eucharist. Service starts at 11.30pm 25th December January 2010
The Christmas Fun n Magic show takes place on Sunday 13th December from 12pm - 4pm at the Lamberhead Green WMC on White Street, Pemberton. Rumple will be entertaining kids with magic and illusions, plus a visit from Santa, who will meet the kids and parents, before giving a gift to each child before leaving. Tickets are £2.50, with children 2years and under free admission. This is always a sell out, and admission is by ticket only. Please get tickets as soon as possible.
