The Start of a Lifelong Journey

Have you heard about the group of tourists that were travelling through Europe visiting historical sites? They were impressed that so many small villages were the birthplaces of great poets, artists, composers and political leaders. While the group was strolling through a particularly picturesque village, one of the tourists approached a man who was sitting in front of a building and asked, “Excuse me, but... were any great men or women born in this village?”

The old man thought for a moment and replied, “No. Only great babies!”

Everyone starts off as a baby with the opportunity to grow into greatness. This is true not only in the world but in the Kingdom of God. When we choose to become Christians, we are ‘born again’ as babies in Christ. We have a lot of growing ahead of us!

On 14th of this month the Bishop of Warrington, the Rt Revd David Jennings is going to confirm 40 people at 7.30pm in church. These people, 36 youngsters and 4 adults, have reached a stage in their lives where they want to make public their desire to be a follower of Jesus.

I pray that they will take advantage of the various opportunities that the Church offers them to help them grow and develop in the faith. Will you join with me in praying for them all that they would become ‘great’ Christians? Their names are printed below.
